Second Saturdays at Sunnyside Up
River Rocks Concert
All Proceeds Go to Iraq Veterans Against the War
Please join us on March 14 Second Saturday Concert . These concerts are a good way to support a worthy cause and at the same time have an enjoyable evening out with family and friends while listening to some good local music. We suggest a donation of $5 per person. So far, concert goers have been very generous and some go way over the top with their donations. We appreciate any amount and hope to see you in the audience on March 14.
RiverRocks is a musical collaboration among musicians Laurie Childers (keyboard, vocals, guitar), Mina Carson (guitar, mandolin, vocals, violin), Bill Veley (bass), George Beekman (percussion) and Michael Molk (oboe). Playing both originals and covers, lyrical expression and the serious themes of love and war are balanced with the joys of life and rhythm and harmony’s soothing beauty. You’ll hear a bit of “enlightened lounge music” – old standards with lovely messages, as well as contemporary folk/rock/jazzy pieces. Longtime musical partners Mina and Laurie both pen songs, and the band is making their dreams come true. Bill plays a rocking bass line and George shapes the songs with rhythm and attitude. RiverRocks is proud to introduce oboist Michael Molk in his first performance with the band.

All donations will go to Iraq Veterans Against the War (http://ivaw.org/). IVAW was founded by Iraq war veterans in July 2004. They call for:
• Immediate and complete withdrawal of occupying forces in Iraq;
• Reparations for the human and structural damages Iraq has suffered, an end to corporate pillaging of Iraq, and giving the Iraqi people ultimate control of their own lives and future;
• Full benefits, adequate healthcare (including mental health), and other supports for returning servicemen and women.
This concert marks the sixth anniversary of the March, 2003 US invasion of Iraq. We hope to see you all there in solidarity to bring an end to this tragic war and occupation. For more information: 541-752-4242
